RISING IN UKRAINE. COPENHAGEN, Aug 13. Several thousand a'rmod Ukrainian peasants are resisting German attempts to seize the harvest, and sanguinary engagements are proceeding. Fresh German troops have been ordered to the Ukraine to suppress the beginning of a revolution.
BRITAIN RECOGNISES THE CZECHO-SLOVAKS. LONDON, August 13. The Press Bureau states that the Government has issued the following declaration: “Britain regards the Czecho-Slovaks as an allied nation and recognises the unity of the Czecho-Slovaks armies as Allied belligerents, waging regular warfare against Austro-Hungnry and Germany. Britain also recognises tin* Czeeho-Slovak National Council as present trustee of future Czeclio-Slovak Government, to exercise supreme authority over this army.

The “New York Times” Washington correspondent says the British Government recognition of the Czechoslovaks as a national, and their armies, as an Allied force waging war against the Central Powers, is the fore-runner of similar action bv the United States.

A battle is raging in the middle Volga. The Soviet army numbers one hundred and. fifty thousand. German papers state the Soviets General Executive Committee has appointed a Dictatorship consisting of Lenin, Trotsky„ and BengvicfF, who are empowered to take all measures to crush their enemies.
