SUBMARINE WARFARE

A German submarine sunk a small, American steamer in American water: An American steamer of three thouv and ton 3 was submarined in American waters. A boat load of eighteen of the crew is missing CONSIGNED TO DAVY JONES’ LOCKER. (Received Tie's l’-’v nf 1T.25. a.m.) LONDON, August 8.
An armed yacht destroyed a submarine in the English Channel. She sighted the periscope and drove over the spot and dropped a depth charge The crew observed a disturbance in the midst whereof bubbling appeared, indicating volumes of air escaping. The yacht picked up the submarine's sole survivor covered with oil, who died from internal injuries.
