CHARGE OF ASSAULT. WELLINGTON, August sth. In the Supreme Court to-clay, Emmanuel Floyd, charged with assaulting his wife so as to cause her actual bodily harm, was found guilty, with a strong recommendation to mercy. Ho was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and to take out a prohition order against himself and his wife for two years. • i THE REINFORCEMENTS. • ! WELLINGTON, August. 3. The Director of Recruiting announces that no drafts null enter camp in December. Tho January draft will be open for recruiting married men from August 6th. Five thousand names will be drawn in the next Class C. ballot, to bo gazetted on August 21st. Any balance will be called up on September 18th. j SUPREME COURT. 1 DUNEDIN, This Day. At tho Supreme Court, Capt. Stevens was acquitted on a second charge of theft of Government moneys. A third , indictment is now being heard.
