“ vSOUIvS ADRIFT THURSDAY.
On to-morrow (Thursday) evening Pollards will present the splendid World Film drum, "‘Souls Adrift” and “The Wreck - in".the Fog;” the end chapter of the big serial, “ A Lass of the Lumberlands.” In “Souls Adrift” Ethel Clayton is the star, and she reaches the supreme height of her art in this play which is crowded with powerful situations. The action opens upon a luxurious pleasure yacht, whose saloon is dedicated to riotous drunken revels. Escaping one evening, the heroine comes upon the engineer on deck and as he turns she discover that lie is the man to j whom she had once been engaged. Suddenly the yacht rocks and the muffled roar of an explosion sounds, and this chance-met pair are the j only survivors. The picturisation ' of the explosion is clone with unique j skill, as are the subsequent scenes ! showing the drifting boat m the j weed-infested, too calm, tropical i seas. The events on the island are ' full of adventure, a pirating sailor- j man and his negro assistant landing 1 with a stolen bag of gems. The : island is a place of rare tropical beauty. The play bus the merit of naturalness. The pUp cioes not seem lo be drawn for the sole purpose of throwing the pair on the island, but everyth] (ends natur- i ally up to the splendid climax. , “ The Wreck in the Fog,” the 2nd • chapter of “ A Lass of the Lumber- J. lands,” begins the real story twenty j years after the supposed death of J his wife.
