VIOLENT FIGIjTING ENSUES,
ENEMY RESISTANCE INCREASES LONDON. July 30.
A French communique states that during the day there was very violent fighting on the wlnlle front north of the Marne. The enemy, whose resistance strongly increased, disputed every • oot of ground and attempted to drive us back by numerous counter attacks. We repulsed all the assaults and made further advance on the outskirts of the village of Buzancy. The Scottish captured the park at Chateau and maintained their positions despite repeated German assaults. East of Plnssior Ilulu and Mueichy lo Chateau wo passed the Chateau Thierry road and captured Gramlropoy and Cugny, also Buttencchalmont after a brilliant, action. North of Fere on Tardenois we extended our gains and entered Sergy Further south Bonehoic fell into our hands on the right. We passed the Dormans-Rheims road south of Villers Igredn and gained ground west of Bligny and Steuphraise. A German attack in the Champagne region, south of Moutsansom failed. An American official report states that there has been severe fighting ibeyond the Ourcq and Sergy after changing hands. four times remains in our possession.
