VIGOROUS COUNTER ATTACKS
BOTH SIDES DETERMINED.
(Received This Day, at 12.10. a.m.) LONDON, July 20. Reuter’s correspondent at French Headquarters writing on the afternoon of the 25th, says the Gormans have strengthened their line and are counter attacking determinedly on the whole front of Tardenois salient, from Oureq, to Vrignv, thus attacking towards the west, south and east. v They have apparently decided to refuse to accept defeat and are making a further stand for the salient, and footing north of the Marne. Germans, south of the Oureq are attacking in a southeasterly direction, against Bois de T.atquarnelle and line from Bouar to de Slechalmel.
Further south, attack and counter attack are alternating in rapid succession, 7 the fighting being most violent The enemy on the eastern limb of salient attacked a new British salient. enclosing the woods west of Vrignv, in strong force. We are vigorously counter attacking.
