LONDON, July 23

Mr Perris confirms that there, ait, great fires between the Marne and Ardre. The enemy is apparently preparing for a further retreat, by blowing up munition dumps, and stores which are not moveable. The necessity of getting the guns and material away explains #he stubborn resistance at Oitrchy. The direction of tho retreat suggests a definite stand will be made along the Veslo river.
