Prince Ruppreclit’s group is estimated at seventy divisions, mostly fresh. The. helped in the capture of Meteren. They continue in prominence on the Somme.

General Pershing’s communique states the Americans crossed the Marne and occupied Chartemus Dezu St Germain and Epides. Later there was slight progress on the battle iront, Die German resistance is stiffening. AMERICAN OPERATIONS. (Received This Day. at 0.25 a.ni.) LONDON, July 23. An American communique, states that co-operating with the French we continued to' advance and crossed the Soissons-Chiiteau Thierry road at Beauopils and Charteves We crossed the Marne and the occupied towns, the condition wherein shows they were abandoned in great haste.
