CONCERNING SHIRKERS
At a meeting of the Grey Patriotic Association held yesterday, Mr Tennent moved: “That in view of the inevitable hard-
ship attached to the wiling up of the married men with families of this Dominion, and in the face of so many | Shirkers, deserters, and evaders of the Defence Act of the First Division j still at largo this Association strongly urges the National Government to use all the means in its power to arrest these men and failing their immediate return (to duty that they be disfranchised for life in Now Zealand.” Mr Tcnnent in sneaking to the motion, made special reference to a class which, in his opinion, the principle of the motion reflected upon. Mr P. Mackonie seconded the resolution. Messrs King and McLean supported the motion. The Chairman stated that lie thought the whole meeting was in accord with the tejsolution. The motion was carried unanimously.
