FALSE ALARM

VANCOUVER July 3

A message from New York .says that Rear-Admiral Gleasis declared that the Lbiited States has a largo number of battleships preparing, side by side with the best ships of the British Navy, for an engagement on the high seas with the German Fleet which is expected at any time.

He says: “I am not going beyond the border line of secrecy when I say that a few days ago there came an alarm to the heads of the British navy that the German battleships were about to come out. I know Ameroian ships were given a post of honour in preparation for the attack.”
