METHOD'S! SOCIAL

The Social held at St Paul’s School- j room on Friday night was voted a very 1 successful function. Tho school-room was full and some had to remain in tho Church. Tho meeting was presided over by the Rev. G. H. Bridgman, the newly arrived Methodist [Minister. The overture was played by Miss M. Walker. Miss Shand sang very pleasingly, the solo “When the .Grey of Tlie Sky.” Miss E. Perry charmed the audience with her rendering of “Rosebuds” nnd “In an Old Fashioned Town” nnd for an encore gave “Poppies for Forgetting.” -Mrs Hunter’s “When the Joybells Ring” gained fbr her a well merited encoroy and she responded with “The Rose Garden.” The Chairman spoke of his old friend Rev. John Smith and of the glorious scenery of Hokitika and said how pleased he was to lie ’among them. Mias Davidson added enjoyment of tho evening by her singing of “Sunshine” and in response to an cucoro gave “Come Home to Mo.’’ Mrs Bridgman gavo two elocutionary items Papa’s Letter and Woman’s Curiosity and in answer to an encore “Tho Knitting Song.” Votes of thanks were proposed and carried by acclamation. Then enmo tho singing of the National Anthem, and last, but not least tho dainty supper provided by the ladies.
