To-night ' the splendid human story-of The waif Periwinkle, saved from th’e-'setv, ifrj'old.fn'.the Mutual’s big five-act feature"/“’Periwinkle,” the star attraction in to-night’s display in the Princess} Theatre. The dainty artist, Mary Miles Minter, is seen tit her best in her impersonation of Periwinkle. The lbth episode of “ The Iron Claw ” wi 11 be shown in conjunction with the star feature. This episode is full of sensation and pictures the great battle between “The Iron Claw ” and bis men with the Laughing Mask. The story of Periwinkle opens on a desolate beach near a government life-saving station. The younger member of the life-guard crew, Ira . (Alan Forrest), rescues a lnby girl from a wreck. The child is cared for at tne station, and the men christen her “ Periwinkle.” Living near the station is Ephraim Rawlins and his childless daughter, Ann Scudder (Ann Schaefer). Ann lias an aching maternal spot in her bosom that she longs to fill. With every wreck she hopes that fate will favour her with something from it to appease the motherly longing. Then comes Periwinkle, and her joy knows no bounds. When she lias grown up to young girlhood, and is the bright spot in the lives of the men at the station, Dick Langdon (George Fisher), a wealthy young New Yorker, is cast ashore from the wreck of his yacht. Periwinkle, aiding the life-savers, helps bring him back to life. Her innocent goodness anu faith transforms Langdon, during Ids stay at the station, from a blase, carousing, so.iety ne’er-do-well to a man of high and noble ambitions.
