ROIL OF HONOUR.
Mrs W. H. Burrowes of Ivanieri has received the following letter from Captain Albert H. Richards, 0.0. No 2. Company, New Zealand battalion in France, dated April 21st.: — “I write to offer you my sincere sympathy in the loss of your son, (William), who has been in my Coy. for a considerable time. He was holding an outpost position with others when they came under very heavy shell fire. There is one consolation for you, that is his death was instantaneous and he therefore could not have suffered any pain. He was killed in the afternoon of 16th April. I can assure you that you may justly be proud of your son. He was a good boy and a good soldier, and died at bis post doing his duty. We shall erect a cross over his grave at the first opportunity as we have a fund in my Coy for this purpose. I assure you 1 deeply regret his loss and offer you my sincerest sympathy.”
