The death took place oil Thursday morning at Westport hospital of Private Fred Jolly, who after serving at the front was invalided home. Deceased who was to years of age, was a son of Mr. John Jolly, for many years a well known blacksmith in Hokitika, and now residiug at Auckland. For many years he was employed as a bootmaker by Mr W. Morrish, and later on removed to the Duller district. Tho deceased was accorded a military funeral at Westport on Sunday. In the cortege were members of tho Returned Soldiers’ Association, the Westport Garrison Artillery, Territorials, and representative citizens. Tho. Garrison Band played The Dead March in Saul en route to Orawaiti Cemetery, where the body’ was interred with full military honours. The firing party was formed by the returned soldiers.
