A meeting will be bold towards the close of Die week with regard to the iMckerne for advertising Dio district. Instead of screen advertising, a special cinematograph picture, it lias been suggested might bo compiled,, and Mr Gooch has offered to place a motor car at the disposal of the Chamber of Commerce to take the operator through the district and secure scenic Industrial and other suitable features for advertising the district. The meeting of delegates of the contributing bodies will consider the proposal at a meeting to be held at the County Chambers next Friday night.
As a result of investigations made at Kanieri Lake cm Saturday by Constables Stark and Kvonden, a find was made ol some 140 opossum skins. Tn connection therewith, two men were arrested, one (McNeill), charged with being a soldier absent from camp without leave, and the- other, Coll, on a charge of theft, in connection with the skins, which when I**ll lor a couple of moments were found to have disappeared and were shortly afterwards found in the river which flows a few yards “ from whore the skins were left by the Constables after being first found. Police court proceedings will follow and will probably be heard on the 4th July. Opossums are reported to be very numerous in the Kanieri Lalce district.
