The morning newspapers give prominence to Messrs Hughes and Cook s arrival, and the enthusiasm _oi the welcome at Euston station. They displav on similar lines, their American speeches. The “Morning Post says the safe arrival of Mr Hughes, is an event of importance to the Empire, for m his frail bodv burns an indomitable soul. He is resolved upon victory, and not an empty victory, but one winch will make the Empire secure. Mr Hughes has realised that the Germans value the Colonies ns naval bases. He also knows the foundation of our security will rest upon. the control of raw material and security of industry.. We are glad t° know that statesmen like Mns.se>, Hughes, and Cook, who deal in realities are helping in the fighting a gains the insidious attempts to divert Britain into a bog of quagmires of political iUealism.. The League of Nations and other such schemes are being thrust upon a bewildered public instead of tlie realities. All are based on tlie craven un-British principle of surrendering our whic will be on the usual popular lines.
