THE LIBEL TRIAL.
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. COPYRIGHT.]
PRESS CENSURE. LONDON, Juno 5. The Provincial Press continue to wsure the so-called scandalous Billing trial. The “Westminister Gazette” says that the trial was an outrageous scandal, and likely to damage our reputation for sanity and sobriety . • The “Manchester Guardian” declares that the publicity given to the bespattering process is monstrous. Other newspapers condemn Judge Darling’s handling of the admission of allegations which are undermining the public confidence, while the rules of evidence prevented a refutation. In the House of Commons Lord Robert Cecil denied that. Spencer was sent on a mission to Albania in 1913,, as ho asserted in the Billing case. Spencer w«« in 1915 attached to the Adriatic Mission gave satisfaction.
