AEROPLANE AT LARGE.
Writing from France on March 14th to a friend in Masterton, the G. T. B.rown, formerly minister of Knox Church, Masterton, says:—The other day another padre and I were about five miles away at another camp. We saw a plane resting in a field sni rounded by about 100 men. Someone was trying to start the propeller. Suddenly it started to wliir round. The machino began to move along the ground 11 turned right 1 round amongst the men, knocking many of them o\?r. I noticed when it came round that tin re was no one in it. It had ran amok, and there it was careering round tho paddock uncontrolled, knocking men down like ninepins'. There was a great scatter—some fled into trench holes, and others took to the hillside. Eventually the great mad thing took a litt'fe) jump, and with a loud crash stood on its head and fell over on its back. Thejr aviator evidently intended some of tnt? men to hold it until he got in, but they must have lot it go. Only lour man had to be carried away, and 1 don t think any were killed.
