A British headquarters correspondent, writing cu the Bth. says that following a heavy continuous bombaroment along a wide front in Flanders, the German infantry this morning attacked south of Dickebuscli Lake. It was not a, very big affair apparently only' of divisional strength, vTho enemy penetrated our front line between the Lake and Ridge Wood. Some enemy parties were reported in the eastern fringe of tho wood part of which wo hold, and which is likelye to prove very costly to the enemy if ho attempts to push on. We also hold Kleinevstraat. Fighting continues in fine woathe.. ■ ’The tactical object of the operation was apparently to attempt, to clear a way for a- thrußt towards Scherpenberg from the northeast and which may prove the beginning of further fierce fighting in this region.
