STRONG LOCAL ATTACK
ENEMY ENTERS LINE.'

LCNLiCN, May 8. Sir Douglas Haig reports: On ’fteunesday morning the enemy’ launched a strong local attack against the AngloFrench between La Clythe and Voorinezele.
After heavy fighting the centre of the attacking force entered the Allied front line at certain points.
Fighting continues in these localities. The attacks wefe repulsed at all other points. ‘ j , . A successful French local operation advanced our line during the night southward of La Cayette the French taking a number of prisoners. "Wo dropped four hundred bombs on different targets along the front. We brought down twelve German machines during air fighting, eight of which were brought down in one big •encou'ntor in the neighbourhood of Douai. None of our machines are mis. sing.
