CABLE FROM GENERAL GODLEY.

The usual monthly cable message received by the Minister of Defence (the Hon Sir James Allen) from Major-General Goclley (G.O.C. New Zealand' Expeditionary Forces in France) states that the Now Zealand Division moved out of the Somme area on March 21st, and came into action about Hamel and Hebuterne on March 2Gth. It repulsed four German attacks on March 27th, 28th and 81st. The ist Brigade and part of the 3rd attacked and captured a commanding ridge north of the Serre road, and took 290 prisoners and 110 machine-guns. On April sth the Division repulsed a heavy attack on the whole of its front;
