IRISH AFFAIRS.

■ j—ooo-? NEWS FROM IRELAND

TIIE ONLY TOPIC,

(Received This Day at 9.50. a.m.) LONDON, April 28.

Visiting correspondents declare upon the shbiect of conscription, Ireland for the time being, is a- united nation. The words, “No Conscription,” arc boldly printed on the chest of the Parnell statute, and the same sign is on the shop windows, and is heard in conversation everywhere in the streets. It is expected that the application of the Lord Mayor of Dublin for a passport for Washington will be granted to put the. anti-Qonscription ease before President Wilson.

It is understood that Hon Duke is resigning the Irish Secretaryship. It is likely that Edward Shortt, a Commoner, will succeed him.
