The War Office states a Turkish official report of the 19th stated an English request! for a two hours | armistice 'was being arranged to give tho English an'opportunity to bury a large number of their dead. This statement gives an incorrect impression of heavy 'British losses. The facts were that after stubborn fighting, the enemy losing heavily, an arrangement, not- in the nature of an armistice, was made between a German officer and the British Red Cross for the collection of tho wounded, the enemy having previously fired on. our paities, causing a mutual abandonment of the collection of the pounded and dead.
