SURPRISE PACKET DAY.
A mooting of the Commitoo to close accounts in connection with the above wits held at the Town Clerk’s Office last evening. The Mayor (Mr. Perry) presided. - The Hon. Secretary (Miss M. Reynolds) reported, that the total receipts had been £.301 (5s oil made up of donations, sales and cash contributions of £1(51 lf)s 3d, and the sale of envelopes 7s. The expenses involved in the management and the purchase of goods to supplement the gifts, amounted to £OS 12s Ocl. (This left a surplus of £lO3 14s ,5(1, ‘which it was resolved to appropriate as follows: — Red Cross Fund £BO Lady Liverpool Fund £BO. Y.M.C.A. Trench Fund £BO. Westland Patriotic Fund £163 14s 5d.. Total :• £403 14s od. The statement was approved and the accounts passed for payment. Votes of thanks were passed to all who had contributed to the success of Packet Day, donors of gifts etc., being specially mentioned The Chairman referred to the way in which the Committee, and specially the ladies, liad worked. The success achieved, which was a very 'pleasing result indeed, was due in the main to their hard- work. Mr. Perry also eulogised the work done by>fiss Reynolds, who had carried out her arduous and responsible duties in a most pleasing and satisfactory manner. .Reference was made also to other willing workers, some of whom attended from the coitnIrv to help in the work. The following).:contributions to the fund, omitted’*ifroni previous acknowledgments were mentioned: —-Mrs Hillier. a parcel; Mr Thomas Ford, one guinea.
