WELLIXGTOX, April 19
Legal authorities state that the re-nominal ion of ]». 0. Webb, Af.P., f}°i* the Grey Seat is prevented by Section* 38 of the Legislature Act, which states that an offence punishable ’by imprisonment, can disqualify any person from enrolment as an elector. , W lien Mr. Webb was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment the holding of his seat was determined by the Grown Law Offices’ interpretation of the word “crime” but it was held that Air Webb's offence wasn’t a crime within the meaning of the law providing for the forfeiture of a seat.
In certain labour qua iters, Air Webb’s loss of his seat is regarded as inevitable. Preparations are in progress for the selection of another labour candidate.
