Arising out of the change of the ecutrol of the medical treatment of . sird ind wounded soldiers from the Public Health Department to the Defence Department and his appointment as Inspec-tor-Genera] of Hospitals and Chief Health Officer has been conferred on Dr Freiigley, who will hold these offices during the period of indefinite leave that has been granted to Dr Valintine. Referring to the change, the Minister of Public Health stated it was pro. posed to reorganise the Department on modern Hues. Tlie Medical officers, would as far as possible, confine their .attention to the professional side of the Vork, and the chief sanitary inspectors would he given a larger share of responsibility in regard to non-profes-sional work.
