Sergt... A. R. Rudkin, of the wellknow Kumara family, has been wounded (a second time) in France. Two brothers (Sol. and Ernest) have already paid the extreme price having been killed in Franco, while a fourth brother Edgar (late of the Bank of New Zealand at Hokitika).is now on the way fo England with a reinforcement.

.Advice haw been received that Private Alexander Wallers of Wellington had been killed in action in France on March 27th. Deceased was the second son of Mr Alex. Watters of Wellington, and formerly of Kumara. The mother died only a. few weeks ago. Deceased was a scholar of the Hokitika District High where three other brothers were also pupils. He was employed in the Audit Department previous to enlisting. He was a nephew of Mrs Cooper of Itainu, Mrs W. Berry of Ilerepo, and Mr A. W. Upjohn of 'Ross. Deceased was a native of Kumnra, and about 215 years of age. Tim other three brothers also donned khaki, j the eldest, Alan, baling come back inj valided from Egypt.
