At the Grey Magistrate's Court yesterday, Charles White was charged wih having native game (pigeons) in his possession. Mr Joyce appeared for the defendant who pleaded, not guilty. Constable O’Donnell said that tlie defendant dropped a bag near the Post Office at Otira, which he picked up and found it contained pigeons. Defendant denied all knowledge of the bag. but was convicted and fined £2 and costs 7s.
A six-roomed house, Carroll Street Runangn, owned by Mrs Kyle, a widow, residing in Dunedin, and occupied by her two sons, Joseph Mclvor Kylo and William, employed at the State Mine was destroyed bv fire on Sunday. Tt appears the brothers left the house about 5 p.m. to visit a friend in Dunollie. At 6.30. p.m., the house was discovered on fire and was totally destroyed. There, was no insurance on the contents. Tip. two brothers are heavyilosers, being loft with what they wore. When they loft there was no fire in the house, and everything was safe. They cannot account for the origin of the fire. Tip. adjoining dwelling occupied by Air John. Arlmekle, jnnr., was saved.
