SHOOTING.

KANIERI V. GREYMOUTH. A rifle match between Greymouth Rifle Club and Kanieri Rifle Club took place on the Kanieri rifle range on Easter Monday, and resulted in a win for Kanieri after a most exciting. finish. Joseph Hutchison, one of this year’s recruits put up top score. At the conclusion of the match Mr Martin, President of the Grey rifle club congratulated Kanieri on their win and said he hoped a similar match would take place at 110 future date. The President of the Kanicsri club suit ably replied and they were then entertained at dinner at the Empire Hotel, Kanieri, and then motored to catch the 5.5 p.’hi train for Greymouth. The following are the results: —

Totals ... 185 198 183 566 111 the evening a social dance was held by the members of the Club and was a decided success, the floor being packed to its utmost. During the evening songs were contributed by Miss Wells, Mrs Chesterman and Mr J. Duncan. The President presented trophies won during this year and in a very neat speech thanked the donors of trophies and all who helped to make the social a success. Mr Wells, M.C.C., also made a speech on Club matters, and the President suitably replied. The music was supplied by Mr Lawn and extras were played by Mrs Holling. Mr G. Head acted as M.C.
