MANY SUCCESSES CLAIMED. 1 LONDON, March 30. A wireless German official message states that local engagements on fcft&PF sides of the Scarpe broke into ; foremost English positions. Several thousands of English were taken prisoners. We agitin attacked between the Somme and the Ancre and drove out the enemy from the old positions and out of the bravely defended villages in a westerly and northerly direction via Wareusle, Baoourt- and Plessier. The French repeatedly and 'violently counter-attacked our new front between Mont Didier and Noyon. _ The booty secured since the beginning of tlie battle is 70,000 prisoners and 1,100 guns of which von Bulow imprisoned 40,000 and took 600 guns. Increased artillerying has been con. ccntrated in Lorraine. CLAIMS FURTHER SUCCESSES. LONDON, March 31. A wireless German official message, dealing with Saturday’s operations, says: “We repulsed the English counter-attacks in the Upper Ancre. We stormed Aubercourt, Hangard and Deraiun, throwing the enemy back on Moreuil, despite the most violent counter-attacks. We re-attacked the newly brought-up French troops at Moreuil and Noyon, and repulsed the enemy northward of Mont Didier. We stormed the heights west of the bank of the Avre. Oft repeated French counter-attacks westward of Mont Didier and against Mesnil failed. We stormed Fontaine and threw the enemy out of freshlyjjffi constructed trenches, and beyond sauvillers, Rollet, Hainvillers, and ■Thioeourtville, strong French counterattacks collapsed. - Wo stormed Renard fort, dominatjnJM the Oise and south-west of Noyon. enemy’s losses were heavy everywhere. A later report states:—We fought • many local successful battles between the Luce and the Avre. French count. er-attacks west and south-west of Mont Didier heavily failed.
