A DRAGGING SALE. (By Telegraph.—Special to Cuartfian.) CMUISTCHWRCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding the above sales on Wed. nesday; Fat Cattle—The yarding was over the average both for quality and quail, tity, but there were no special lines. Tlie demand was firm all through, ami freezers, only got c .odd pens of cows. Best steers sold to £22 ordinary, £l7 to £l9, unfinished £l3/10/- lo £ls. Heifers and cows £l2 to £l6< Store Cattle—There was a large yarding and the quality was good. The very wet day interior rod with the attendance and the demand was dragging. A line of 16, 3 to 4 year old steers sold at- £l4. Several lines of this class were passed: 20 dry cows in store condition, sold at £7/7/-. A line of good calves made £4 ss. A proportion of the entry was unsold. Fat Sheep—A fairly large yarding market was firm throughout. Best wethers sold to 44/6, prime 35/- to 41/lighter, 31/6 to 34/-;’best ewes to 38/-; prime 31/- to 35/6'; lighter 26/6 to 30/-. Freezing buyers were operating keenly.
Store Sheen—There was the heaviest yarding of the year. The market *far all good local stuff and fresh conditioned young ewes, was the sain it as last week. Inferior and travelled stuff was easier. Good 4, 6 and 8 tooth ewes brought 32/6 to 35/-; S.Af. ewes, good sorts, 28/- to 32/-; older sorts 23/. to 26/6; wethers, good, 28/- to 31/-; best lambs 23 J- to 24/10.
