POLLARD’S PICTURES. DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS. To-night at the Princess Theatre the king of clear cut comedians Douglas Fairbanks, will lie featured in conjunction with Dorothy West a charming Triangle star in the Fine Arts Triangle comedy, “'The Habit of Happiness.” .The story starts off with a rush and we find Doug as the son ofSammy Wiggins who amassed a fortune and then died entertaining a crowd of wire and wrinkled Dowry dead-beats* in opposition to his sister’s parlour pets of high society. Then we drift into one of Fairbank’s marvellous fights. He defends the stairhead against a gang of roughs and as usual he comes out on top. Then he opens a primary class in laughing at a sitiinrefuge and meets with great success. He lias a most ingenious system of athletic exercises and these catch on. This brings him in touch with a millionaire's daughter whom he captures. Dorothy West who plays the heroine is the best of a long ,line of Fairbank’s leading ladies) and the play is the best yet of this athletic comedian’s many successes. The and chapter of the Patlie serial • The Iron Claw ” entitled “ The House of Happiness” will be creened in the first part preceding the Fairbank’s comedy.’
MCLEAN’S PICTURES. / “BIG TRRMAINK,’’ —FRIDAVT. Air. H. McLean will present at the Opera House to-morrow evening the Yorke Film Corporation’s masterpiece, “Dig Tremaine” from the famous novel of the same name with flaypld Lookwood and May Allison in the leading, i-oles. “Big Tremaine” tells of, the love ~f the love of John Tremaine for preU tv Julia Cameron, a Northern guest bn a near-by plantation. Ho believes that his affection is reciprocated until he sees Julia in the arms of his brother David. Broken-hearted, he goes away, leaving no clue as to his whereabouts, having first deposited in a Richmond bank the money entrusted to him by local hanker Redmond Malvern. Seven years pass before he again seeks his home. He is amazed ,to find a “For Sale” sign on the old homestead, his brother David dead, and Jplia a widow. He immediately pays off all the (family indebtedness, but not even his mother has a friendly word for him. The money left in the bank was several ihousand dollars short, and all believe that he has taken it, his disappearance at the time lending colour to the story. In the face of such heavy odds lie takes up life anew on the old ’Tremaine plantation, and so conducts himself that he earns the title “Big Tremaine.” How his innocence is dis. ' 'ivorod and made known to the world how he is made Congressman, and earns the hand in marriage of the daughter of the man he was said to Lave defrauded, are leading incidents in a gripping * story. Among those prominent in the supporting cast are Lester Cunco, whfo lias the important nart of Banker Malvern. William Ephe i.s the treacherous David, and Virginia Southern in the part of Julia Cameron. A further episode of the charming serial “Liberty,” a clever comedy, and •mi interesting picture of travel complete a very fine programme.
