SURPRISE PACKET DAY.
SECOND EDITION, NEXT SATURDAY. Preparations are going forward for the second edition of packet day to he held at the Town Hall on Saturday afternoon next. The ladies are working hard at the provisions of parcels, many of which will be of very superior value. Some excellent nuggets have been procured and will constitute some 'special prizes. The members of the Literary Club are working hard, as, usual, and will present another liberal gift of packets. Friends in the country are cooperating, also, and will provide quite an array of packets. Several who promised gifts on Monday were precluded from sending them in owing to the weather. Those may be sent in any day this week to the Don Depot, where the ladies are engaged daily making up packets. On Saturday next it is intended to have a special window for children where they will lie at liberty to go to collect packets of toys and useful gifts of books etc. This will he a novelty for the children, which should delight them.
