LATE LOCALS.

The Paeroa Wellington to-morrow for Hokiika direct. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. G. A. Perry), at the reqest of the Westland Patriotic Committee proclaims Monday March 18th a public holiday, it being the “Surprise Packet Day.” In connection with'the school bazaar which is to be held in the Drill Shed on May 2nd and 3rd., a special appeal has been issued by the Hector to the past pupils of the. school. The idea is that they, to show their appreciation of what the school has done for them, should furnish a stall to be distinctly labelled the “Old Pupil’s Stall.” Many owe their present positions almost entirely to the early training they obtained- at the local school and we feel sure that they will respond heartily to the Rector’s appeal.—
