In tlie Supreme Court to-clay, Ridge Kelsey Stock, a taxi-driver, was acquit, tod. on a charge of manslaughter o>y causing the death of a female child named Mitchell by running over her on December last while travelling at 20 miles an hour. Sir Robert. Stout in his address to the jury, commented on the number of children killed, by motor cars in the district as compared with deaths in the course of sacrifices bv the ancient barbarians.
THE CLERGY ASSAULT CASE. FINED FOR DISTURBANCE. FEILDING, March 13th. There was groat local interest in the ca§es arising out of the disturbance at Rev. Howard Elliott’s meeting and assaults on the clergy afterwards, before Air. J. G. Reed S.AI. to-dav. McKee. McGradc, Woods, Egan and Rowan, were each fined Cl for disturbing the meeting. The charges against Rowan, McKee, AlcGrade and Egan, for assaulting the cergy. is being proceeded with.
