CANADA GOER DRY. OTTAWA, March 12.. Canada virtually goes dry on April Ist, during the war and for a year after peace is signed, with the exception of the provinces already provided with legislation. The raid began at five in the evening and ended at midnight. Sitxy aeroplanes, in seven squadrons crossed- the French lines, though the barrages of great intensity were put up. A few. reached Paris and demolished several buildings and fired others.

Declaring that Seminoff’s force represents Russian Provisional Government, which is recognised by the Cossacks, they arrested the Bolshevik lead ors at Blagouyeshesnisk and disarmed the forces.

' SOLDIERS EASTER LEAVE PLEA BY DR THACKER. DUNEDIN, March 13. Dr. Thacker M. P. has sent the following, telegram to Sir James Allen, respecting leave:— “Your reply -most unsatisfactory. You are. merely sidetracking the main issue, giving preference to civilian Easter traffic instead of the soldiers. You are freing three or four thousand relatives to go to Wellington at a cost of £lO to £ls each. One trip of the Maori is all that is necessary, which the Union Company could give free; as a mere bagatelle as discount on its war profits. Please try again and lei the men away on the Wednesday Tiefore Good Friday.”
