POLLARD’S PICTURES“THE QUESTION” AND SERIAL, MONDAY “ The Question,” the story of a woman who forced to decide between j duty and convention, declared for the former and defied society, gets a strong handling of a delicate problem in the Greater Vitagrapli’s Blue Ribbon feature, “ The Question,” the star picture to be screened by Pollard’s Pictures at the Princess Theatre next • Monday. Alice Joyce and Harry Moray fill the leading roles. The plot is a novel one and the story full ! of interest. A young doctor is left to j continue the research work that has j been carried on by a scientist who I leaves him everything on the condition 1 that he does not marry. The young 1 doctor accepts the obligations and lie and the girl make up their minds to | wait. But as time goes on the young 1 ; man realises that the separation from his love is interfering wi Hi his pro- j gress,.and the time comes when he realises he will have to give in. Then the girl takes the decisive plunge and goes to him, defying the conventions. The misery and trouble that this ac- ; tion brings in its train are vividly ' shown. The settings are splendid, 1 the acting of the best, especially that, of Charles 'jvent, possibly the greatest character actor of the screen. In conjunction with this great feature the 1 first episode of the Vitagraph serial ; supreme, “ The Secret Kingdom,” will be screened. This big fifteen episode : serial has a splendid success wherever , screened and the public will have an j opportunity of judging for themselves. , As the serial will lie launched on its ’ journey in Hokitika on Monday even- 1 ing by the screening of “ The Land of Intrigue,” the No. 1 episode, and the continuation of the story will be carried on by the screening of a 2,000 feet episode every Monday until t-lie fifteen episodes are completed.
