An apology was made for the absence of Mr Wood and a further two months leave granted to Mr Coupon. The minutes were read and confirmed and outward correspondence-approv-ed. INWA RD CORRESPONDENCE. From Auckland City Council asking support to proposal for urging the retention of Samoa in the' British Empire—Received : and proposal endorsed.

From Mannwatu County Council •conveying resolution and asking for support- to race special trains, so as to save damage by motor cars to roads— Received. , From Westport .Borough Council urging conference to urge fitting up of Mamin Springs, so as to make them suitable for a-sanatorium.—Received; Mr Blank said lie did not think the Council should interfere. The Charitable Aid Board had several shelters at Cashmere Hills. No action taken. From K. Foster asking for reduction in rates.—Received and referred to Finance Committee. From Mrs M. Morgan, drawing* attention to overgrowth of gorsc and blackberries in front of her property Hampden Street. —Received; and I’OJ ferred to Public Works Committee. From T. Brown enquiring ns to possibility of getting water power pressure during working, hours. At present it is very seldom on during that period.—Received ; referred to the Over seer to see what could bo done to meet

the requirements of the writer. From C. Gibbons, Borough Inspector. applying for an increase of salary.—Received; referred to Finance Committee to deal with. REPORTS. From Treasurer reporting receipts £317/8/8, payments £298/1/2, debit balance £231/13/2.- —Received. Accounts amounting to £569/19/0 went passed for payment. The Mayor reported that the present Sanitary Contractor bad offered to continue (be service for another year at the present terms.—Offer accepted Mr. J. King enquired as to the Town Cock and asked wlmt were its upkeep eonditTons.i The Town Clerk stated that Mr Broeklehurst was receiving £9 per year (o keen the clock in order. After soim; discussion a' Committee consisting of Messrs King, Wood and Blank were appointed to enquire and report. The Reserves Committee report was read and received. The Overseer’s report, on work done was read and received. From Manager, Abattoirs reporting for month of February that, there were examined 11 rows, 48 bullocks, 190 sheen. -'9 lambs, 1 pig, 3 calves. There were condemned 1 cow and two bullocks. Fees for the mosth £44/5/6 — Received.

At the request of Air Blank the Over* seer is to be requested to have the blackberries overhanging and overgrowing some of the footpaths, cut down. The Chairman of Public AYorks was authorised to have fence on Cemetery Till I renewed as early as possible. An enquiry by Air Parkhill was referred to the Inspector to give attention to.
