[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.] DUNEDIN, March 7tli. Tlie Methodist Conference discussed this morning the question of free speech and politics, as related to the recent attacks made upon two clergymen in the north. After.a speech by Mr. Ready, the Conference, without further comment, unanimously resolved that this conference note with satisfaction the expressed determination of the Minister of Justice to prevent an\ improper interference with principle of free speech in politics and religion, and to bring to justice any persons guilty of any attempt to interfere with those liberties.

Mr. Ready expressed the hope tha't the time would never come in this Dominion when they would have to fight military Romanism, with military Protestantism.

The Conference also resolved that in view of the decision of the Chief Justice, regarding Sunday trading in marble bars, the conference urge the Min. ister of Justice to see that the Act he so amended ns : to close, these premises on Sundays. The final schedule of Ministerial stations for 1918 was adopted with the following alterations from the first reading:— . Avondale second, Ej Sage; Hamilton second, J. McCartliur; Tan mar unui, R. Fordyll; Wanganui North M. Turner; Taihapc, W. Hocking; Sandon and Rongotea, 13. James; Kilbirnic F. Read; Richmond, W. Willis; Reefton, T. Dent; Christchurch East, second, C. Jordan; Timaru, the President to supply C. Jackson.
