RIFLE SHOOTING

KANIERT DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB

Members of the above Club fired on to 2nd inst for a trophy (a handsome Gold Medal) presented by Win. Hall, over distances 300,500, and 600 yards. The weather and light were good, but a tricky wind was blowing ranging from 3 degrees loft to 6 degrees right, which made shooting for new members very difficult. An excellent shoot putup by President G. Head, who put on the brilliant score of 101 'off the rifle, and he Is to be congratulated on registering the coveted century. His detailed scores reading thus ;—-300 yds, 5.5.5.5.5.5.5.—35; 500yds 5.5.4.5.5.5.5 —34 ; 600yds ‘5.5:4,5.4.4.5—32. Total 101. Rifleman A. Dale also registered

at 500 yds—34. Rifleman Webster also registered a good score at 500 yards. A little extra wind catching him for one sliot and blowing it out to three, his score reading thus: 5.5.5.5.3.5.5— 33. ft- will bo seen that President Head registered a possible at 300 yards which was only done once before bv Rifleman W. Owens, one of the Club’s best shots who is now doing his bit "Somewhere in Mesopotamia.” Thirteen members competed for the Medal. The following are the results.:—
