Mailing) sharply. criticised the Government’s treatment of returned soldiers in seiuling them to “hospitals nearest their respective homes/’ regardless of whether there was accommodation for them . At the meeting of the Hospital Hoard on Wednesday two doctors, who were members of the Hoard, had spoken of the need for a consumption sanatorium for soldiers in this island, as well as in the North Island, and had said that the crowding of returned soldiers into hospitals was unfair to the soldiers and also to the civilian patients. EIRE RRTO ARES CONFERENCE TAURANGA, Feb. 26th. The Eire Brigades Conference {-concluded this afternoon. Invitations for the next conference were received from Hastings, Levin, Invercargill, and Lyttelton. A selection is to be made by the brigades. The election of officers resulted :—President, Deputy Supt. Cowper, Oamaru; Vice-President, Supt. Kieth, Hastings, and Supt. Goodwill, Akaroa; treasurer, C. A. Osborne, Oneliunga ; secretary Captain AVatts, Newmarket., A resolution was passed urging the Government not to agree to hand hack the islands in the Pacific to Germany, and that aliens in the Dominion lie employed oil useful work. The retiring President, Mr. Roan, Addington railway, was elected a life honorary member. Delegates are to be taken for several outings ty-morrow and there will he a banquet in the evening. Most /of them leave on Thursday. '
