A STEAMER WRECKED. 145 LIVES LOST. (Reuter’s Telegram.) 1 NEW YORK, February 24. The steamer from Halifax to ‘New York, was wrecked in a blizzard and 145 lives lost. .
A SNOW-STORM DISASTER.
(Received this day at 12.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 24. The Florizel ran ashore in a snowstorm. A .heavy sea prevented the rescuers approaching and she was quick ly pounded to pieces. The Red Cross liner Florizel, bound for Halifax, struck the rocks north of Cape Race, in a blinding snowstorm.. The ship carried 77 passengers and 69 of a crew, including a number of officers and soldiers. Dories and lifeboats rescued twenty-six after they had spent the night on the wreck. JNumbors of bodies -were washed ashore apparently from the wrecked boat. Other rescues bring the total of saved, so far, to forty,
