CORRESPONDENCE.

“THE EMPIRE CALLS.” (To the Editor). Sir,—ln n hook entitled “Racial Decay” written by Mr. Beale, an Australian, the statement is made that 330,000 lives are lost annually in the world of the unborn from race suicide in Great Britain.

f submit, that the Clergy could well preach against the evil they do. “Mothers are shirking maternity, then comes Racial Decay,” so one celebrated preacher said in his sermon. But surely the newspapers could do a good work if they also wrote upon this evil, warning people? If anyone'wanted to do a big work for “the Empire,” he could do it, by writing to newspapers in different parts of the Empire or even different parts of New Zealand, upon this subject. .

Will you please publish this letter lor the sake of the good it may do. Thanking you in anticipation, i I am, etc., 1 empire. Christchurch, Feb. 22nd. 1918.
