THE NEW MEMBER CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 21. Mr. Uni, the new M.P., states'-That politically he is an absolute Independent. though at the present juncture he is in favour of the National Government. He bolds the view, however, that all Maoris should be Indep >ndents, and no matter what the parties may be, that they should look after their own interests; at the same time doing their best for the good of the country generally. 1 In liis younger doys Mr. Uru was a very prominent New Zealand athlete, and lias represented Canterbury in both cricket’and football.
