Mr J. A Frostick, National Efficiency Commissioner, accompanied by his private secretary, .Miss Sapsford, arrived here this morning and were met by mem hers of the Westland Advisory Committee. At 11 o’clock Mr. Frostick met the Committee at the County Cham hers, where matters affecting the working of the Committee were discussed. In the afternoon accompanied by Messrs Ward (County Chairman), and Norman, a visit was paid to the Koka tally Riding. Air. Frostick returns to Greymouth to-morrow morning, and crosses over to Christchurch on Thursday. 1
A meeting of saw mi Hers and others interested in the sawmilling industry was held at Greyrnouth yesterday to set up a special advisory committee in regard to the expansion of afforestation. The following committee was selected: l\fossr s T. S. Coates (Chairman) E. A. Wilkes, I). Tennant, J. Murdoch. J. Jack. W. J. Butler. C. At. Alali'rov and f;. Chapman The committee will meet alternately at Greyrnouth and Hokitika. The committee will not exercise control or advice under the Military Service Act, that branch being still 1011, with the Westland Advisory Committee, and' the saw millers sub-committee, Messrs Butler and Chapman. Subsequently at the Town Hall Air. J. A. Frostick mot the sawmfilers and delivered an interesting address in regard to the works of the new committee, and outlined the scope of its operations in regard to an expansion of the timber industry. Mrs A. W. Francis, who was admitted to Westport Hospital on Friday in a unconscious state,' as the result of a stroke of paralysis passed away on'Saturday trio tiling at 8 O’clock witholit having regained, consciousness. She is survived by a sorrowing husband and three of a family, the eldest of whom is only 14 years of age.
