WEST FRONT OPERATIONS

General Haig reports having i aided a post southward of Queant, killing or prisonering several of the garrison We repulsed raiders west of La Bassee. The enemy’s artillery was active northwest of St Quentin, east of Monchy, east -of Monchy le Preux. Aeroplanes dropped over a ton of bombs on targets behind the enemy lines. Two hostile machines were brought down and two of ours are missing.,

A French communique states an enemy attack at daybreak on a small post north of Yraonne, Was repulsed. The Germans followed up the bombardment reported- in the morning on the right of the Meuse, and Alsace, with three surprise attacks east of Samogneux on the northern side of Forces Wood and south of Hartmannsweilirkopf. All were repulsed.
A SUCCESSFUL RAID
LONDON, Feb. 7
Marshal Haig reports: We success fully raided east of Armentieries. taking prisoners. There is hostile artillerying at.Cambrai and Lens.
