TUSCANIA TORPEDOED

LOSS OF AMERICAN TRANSPORT

DEATH ROLE OF 100. (Received This Day at 9.30. a.m.) WASHINGTON February 7. It is announced here that the American transport Tuscania, has been torpedoed off the Irish coast. The first message reported that 267 lives were lost and there were 1,912 surviving. Later advice stated the death roll was 210, and that the rest were saved. A further telegram from London says the loss of life will not exceed one hundred.

REPORTED AFLOAT. (Received This Dav at 11.25. a.m.. WASHINGTON, Feb. 7. Admiral Suns cables that it believed that the Tuscania is still afloat. THE TORPEDOED STEAMER, (Received This Day at 11.25. a.m.) NEW YORK February 7. The Tuscania was in charge of British officers and was convoyed by British warships. She carried a four inch gun and was an Anchor Liner loaned by Britain to carry troops.
