Another of the hardy band of pioneers crossed the divide this day in the person oi Mr James Sharpe. “Jim,” was amongst that valiant band of the Golden Army who knew no captain beyond their innate honestv of purpose, and the precepts of their noble manhood. Air Sharpe was lorn at Staines, in the County of Surrey, in the ye ; ,r j if), and married a worthy helpmate in Victoria orior to the West Const rush. Jim Sharp was a keen fisherman, and a sure gunning hand. He possessed a famous Manton muzzle loader, which has become famous in the annals of Totara’s history amongst that cult of “The. Bush.”
He leaves a widow and two sons (Arthur -Sharpe, of Waifnlia, and Fred. Sharpe, of Ross) both well known, hi mourn their loss, to whom the sympathy of our town will he feelingly extended. The funeral takes place to the Ross Cemetery on Saturday afternoon.
A special meeting of the Ross Borough Co-, moil will he hold this evening, when tile chair will be occupied by Deputy-Mayor Liustrom. The business is important to the future water supply ■ of our town.
