The. dangers of going too far out while surf bathing were on Sunday again brought before those who indulge in these heltli-giving pastime on the Greymouth bench in a tragic manner, says the Grey River Argus, but, fortunatelv without loss of life. A young man,* who is a good swimmer, and well able to look after himself in the water was suddenly smitten with, cramp and, at the same time, it is supposed, he was seized with a fit. He was noticed to he doubled im in the water, but the few peool" who saw him did not take much heed. Ho was seen by Mr Chris Nissen, who was swimming alongside, and he immediately attempted to drag tbe man ashore, but the help of Constable Mcßoberts and several others had to be obtained before that could he accomplished. Fortunately, Nurse Hynes was present, .nrd with her assistance the man, who was in a very exhausted state, was resuscitated, and another tragedy was thus narrowly averted.
