CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as folregarding the above sales bn AVednesday. Fat Cattle—There was ii medium, yarding, with no extra good’lines, bill the quality was gobd all round. Prices for best bullocks were a. shade' better; beef was equal to the previous market and still above freezing limits. Best steers sold from £lB to £2l, ordinary £ls 10s., to £l7 10s; cows and heifers £l2 10s to £l6. Store Cattle—There was a larger yarding and mostly good sorts. Prices were, quite equal to last week and the demand was excellnt for well bred stuff. Dry cows brought £7 15s to £9 os, extra up to £ll 10s; 2 and 3 year old steers £l2 5s to £l3 15s; 3 and 4 year old steers £l2 15s to £l3 ss; 18 months old £6 to £7 12s. fid and extra good to £8 15s. Fat Sheep.—There was a smaller market, but' prices were about the same as last week. Freezing buyer s were operating sparingly. Best wethers 39s 6d, Prime 34s 6d to 87s, lighter 31s to 33s 6d, ewes to 37s 6d; prime 32s to 34s 6d; lighter 27 s to 30s. fid. Store Sheep—There was another large .market mostly of lambs, anything but the best. Rape lambs were decidedly easier, but best sorts were firm with \good demand for all classes of ewes; wether s were Is. to Is fid easier. The prospects of good classes of young ewes are good.
